Park Vista Veteran Retires after 39 Years
Park Vista of Youngstown recently said goodbye to one of its longtime employees.
Clara Barrett, a fixture of the dining services department at Park Vista, celebrated her retirement on July 26 at a reception in the Stambaugh Lobby with family, friends and co-workers.
One of the special guests at the reception was Clara's 97-year-old mother-in-law, who is a Park Vista resident.
Clara worked for Park Vista for 39 years, beginning June 18, 1973.
She began her career with Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS) at The Ohio Presbyterian Home on Illinois Avenue in Youngstown, working in both dining services and housekeeping before marrying and traveling with her husband.
Through her tenure at Park Vista, Clara has embodied the mission of OPRS, going over and above the call of duty to provide the best service to each of our residents. She has not only done this during her working hours but also in her free time by donating to the Life Care Commitment Fund and attending religious services at Park Vista with her church.
She is a fine example of the people who work at Park Vista and throughout the OPRS communities.
Though Clara is enjoying more time for herself, she says she already misses the residents. She says she definitely will be back to visit residents and her former co-workers.
Park Vista is thankful for the many wonderful years Clara shared with us and wishes her well as she enjoys her much-deserved retirement.
